About Relief India Trust : NGO Review in India

The main objective of the Relief India Trust is to facilitate better quality of life in all its realms through community mobilization, participatory governance based on sustainable natural resource management. Thus community participation, education, protection and promotion of environment and social capital are central to the activities of the organization.

Emphasis on children and environment are major areas of attention of Relief India Trust action research interventions that provide space for the participation and engagement of the stakeholders in analysis and change of the conditions forming the milieu of the people with whom Relief India Trust works.

The NGOs are playing a great role and serve as a great assistant to the government as well during different welfare programs and disastrous situations. In India and in other developing economies, the future of NGOs would tilt a lot more towards the humanitarian sector as much as it is today. It is because the humanitarian related issues are viciously scaling up along with population.

The Relief India Trust believes that it is important for the NGOs to set their priorities first. It is almost always about the people first who are suffering in miserable condition in our society while facing a number of different issues. The need for looking after the environmental and the wildlife issues comes much later. Unfortunately, the issues that are existing in our society are maximum just controlled, but there is never any significant improvement shown in any of the issues that is relevant to the Indian society. Unfortunately, it is expected that the problems will further shoot up as the population of the country is literally going out of control.

Some of the major issues that will shift focus of many NGOs towards the humanitarian sector are as follows:

  • ·        The ever growing poverty
  • ·        Lack of awareness of people regarding different social things
  • ·        Educational issues.
  • ·        Miserable health sector
  • ·        Women empowerment
  • ·        Child labor
  • ·        Religious Issues
  • ·        Provision of clean water and food
  • ·        Agricultural sector issues
Another major reason that the NGOs will be required to shift their focus towards the humanitarian sector is that the donors only show interest in helping the NGOs who have prioritized things and are working for the most deserving sector in the right way. There is no bigger problem than the humanitarian issues relevant in our society today and they seem to grow in intensity the way things are showing up right now. In order for the NGOs to ensure easy funding, they must prioritize their projects and try to look more towards the humanitarian sector rather than anything else.
